The Maquiling Quest 2010 is a combination of biking, running and adventure racing through a 100 kilometer-race course from Lipa City through the towns of Malvar, Tanauan, Sto.Tomas, Batangas into Mount Makiling forest trails then to Bay and Los Baños, Laguna. The adventure race will start at Lima Park Hotel located at Malvar, Batangas and the finish line is at the College of Forestry and Natural Resources, U.P. Los Baños.
Maquiling Quest is a form of adventure race. It was first organized and implemented in the year 2002 to celebrate the United Nations’ International Year of Mountains (IYM) in Mount Makiling- the first national mountain park in the Philippines .
The Maquiling Quest started last 2002 and format varies from year to year.
As an eco-challenge type of event, its goal is for the participants to enjoy the mountain’s scenic features and to promote Batangas and Laguna area.
This year’s Maquiling Quest is slated as the grand centennial event of Mount Makiling as it is scheduled exactly 100 years ago since the establishment of Mount Makiling Forest Reserve. It will be promoted as “100 years of Mount Makiling , 100 kilometers of biking and trail running, 100 thousand pesos in prices.”
