MOTIVATION: CLOSURE

Why suck at one when you can suck at three?

It’s a crazy sport and it’s a lifestyle which pushes you to the edge of your sanity.

I’m fortunate to be a part of TRIATHLON PHILIPPINES in Singapore. The crew pulls you up in all directions and at instances you want to give up.

The crew is built with the same insane people who are driven to reach their potentials and goals.

I’m driven to close the elusive trinity of swimming, cycling and running…and do more.

CHALLENGE: FRUSTRATION AND FEAR

Frustration: It’s one of the evils that prevents me from reaching my closure.

We can run a half marathon and cycle a 200km route without issues.

But if you ask me to swim, this pulls me back to the ground.

Currently, I’m pushing myself to learn the basics and mechanics of swimming.

Learning to swim properly, specially learning the sport quite late in my age is frustrating.

Fear: Swimming is an unexplored area for me. I have a lot of questions and doubts on this discipline and it’s good to have peers to provide you with answers.

Step by step, Brick by Brick… I will overcome these.

LEARNINGS: PHYSICAL AND MENTAL TOUGHNESS

Triathlon life is TOUGH.

Why is it tough?

It takes so much toll on your body that after every discipline gives you bodily pains in areas you think that’s not possible.

You start to believe in the miracles of OMEGA pain killer.

Again, Why is it so tough?

I have friends that tell me to stop training coz there isn’t any event or whatever.

This pushes me wanna do more so when the time comes I haven’t wasted any time or opportunity.

Lastly, Why is it really, really tough?

Coz there are so many factors and excuses to stop you from becoming one.

Face your inner demons and the only one that will stop you is yourself.

REWARDS:

FAMILY, GOALS REACHED AND SELF REALIZATIONS

First: Importance of FAMILY, I’m fortunate to have an understanding immediate family that lives with the craziness of my triathlon journey and My TriPh-Crew that suffers and rejoices with you thru thick and thin.

Second: You reap the rewards of your hard work

Third: You learn that your body is capable of AWESOME shit! Believe it or not…your body shows it!

REFLECTIONS: FROM THE WANNA BE TRIATHLETE

Looking back at all the days, hours and minutes spent in molding myself to become one.

I’ve learned how to respect the sport…It’s three Freaking sports in one, DEAL WITH IT.

I’ve learned how to respect the people who are in this sport…You and a whole pack is DEALING WITH IT.

I’ve learned how to humble myself and get advice from people who have done it…There are other people who’ve been there and done it better, don’t be a jackass thinking that it is easy. LEARN IT.

I’ve learned how to organize and prioritize, coz we need this balance. PRACTICE IT

Thank you Kotz Chris Paragas for having the patience and the craziness to bring us there.

Thank you Triathlon Philippines Crew…you guys are crazy!

Enjoy, have fun, live your life how you want it to be.
