ABOUT THE BRAND Purpose, which is short for Purpose Performance Wear. The first and only triathlon and cycling performance wear brand from Singapore. Since launch in 2017, Purpose has built itself to be the only brand that make triathlon and cycling wear specifically for Southeast Asia. Through this focus on products made for the heat and humidity of Southeast Asia, Purpose has been able to extend its reach across the globe, and winning championships as a result.
THE COMPANY Incorporated in 2016, Purpose began as a sole proprietorship in 2016. The company started because it’s founder Noor Aziz wanted to create cycling and multi-sportswear (duathlon and triathlon) made for the hot and humid weathers of Southeast Asia. He felt that the time has come for Southeast Asia to be represented in the global sportswear brand space. He chose cycling and multi-sports because, being an avid runner and duathlete himself, there was very limited choice of cycling and tri/duathlon wear that is made to be comfortable for Singapore and Southeast Asia.
THE PRODUCTS Purpose started with products for cycling in 2016 when, throughout all the year, jerseys were design and tested. 2016 is also the year when Noor incubated and developed further the idea of making jerseys that he promises to be The Most Comfortable Jerseys You Will Ever Wear. It was only in the third quarter of 2016 when the idea expanded to include triathlon wear. From the developments made throughout the year of incubation year of 2016, Purpose products we designed and made to suit 4 functional levels.
PRODUCT LEVELS
Level 1 (Purpose Team) – For team and training. 20% lighter in weight when compared with the standard jerseys available in the market. The fabric used in the Level 1 kits (Purpose Team) are selected specially because of it’s the ability to be breathe and even when wet – from sweat or swimming. While many dri-fit fabric wicks away sweat but retains weight over time, the thin fabric used in Purpose Team kits are remains lights. With its simple colours and clean looks, the Purpose Team is targeted towards group and new athletes.
Level 2 (Purpose Ambition) – For individual expression. The Level 2 (Purpose Ambition) kits are constructed from the same fabric as the Purpose Team except for brighter designs and more expressive colours. The Purpose Ambition is targeted for intermediate athletes who prefer to express some form of individual style and flair.
Level 3 (Purpose Victory) – Race-ready wear for advanced athletes. Developed with more advanced fabrics, the Level 3 (Purpose Victory) is made better through its three-fabric construction, using three types of mesh fabric in one cycling jersey or tri suit. This is an innovation in a cycling jersey and triathlon suit. The idea behind this type of construction is to make the lightest jersey, with the best race-fit possible without losing any strength and remain comfortable. This innovation in construction also makes the Purpose Victory jerseys and tri suits 50% lighter than the Team series. With the Team series already being 25% lighter than other brands, this makes the Purpose Victory, the lightest in its class.
Level 4 (Purpose Flow) – Professional standard jerseys and tri suits. Purpose Level 4 (Purpose Flow) kits are differentiated by using different fabric depending on cycling or triathlon suits. For cycling jerseys, the Purpose Flow uses the top of the line skin-suit fabric that is used by any professional teams and riders during their top-level competitions. It is a skinsuit like fabric in that it conforms to the contour of the rider and can be intimidating to wear if one is a non-advanced athlete. The fabric used in the Purpose Flow jersey is specially chosen to be comfortable when used in Southeast Asian weather. Because if that, it is twice as light when compared against competitors from Europe or Australia in the same category. The fabric lightness is augmented with it’s weaved in mesh bubbles throughout the entire fabric swatch making the jersey extremely breathable and airy.
For tri suits, the Purpose Flow PRO tri suit is constructed with a technical mesh fabric that provides the best heat dissipation and air flow-through capability. Whilst it may fee rough to the touch, it is the reason why this fabric is specially chosen to be used in the Purpose Flow PRO. Being 100% mesh, it is even more important that the threads and weaves are strong and sturdy to take on the swim, bike and run legs of the triathlon. In extreme cases, over 15 hours long. The ideas behind the two choices of fabric at the top PRO level jerseys and tri suits goes back to the core of why Purpose was created – make great kits that are suitable and comfortable for Southeast Asia. Since Purpose official launch in 2017, the company has updated its tag line yet kept true to its promise of The Most Comfortable Tri Suits and Jerseys You Will Ever Wear.
