OCBC Cycle National Road Championship, Team Time Trial 2019
Following a similar format to 2018, the aim is to provide TTT options for both Quad (4) and Duo (2) teams in Elite (SCF/UCI) and Sports (Non UCI compliant bikes). The objective is to attract as many enthusiastic cyclists to racing as possible.
Elite categories will need a SCF Licence, either Annual (purchase from SCF website) or a Day License (purchased as part of the registrati on the Cycosports website) and will receive SCF series points. As the elite category is under UCI rules, it will require bicycles which meets UCI saddle and time trial bar measurements (see here). Sport will not get SCF series points and the participant can use any road worthy bicycle providing it is safe and has two brakes.
The following are the proposed event categories. Please note, when registering for Elite (SCF Points Category) each rider must nominate which SCF Points category they wish the results to be included in. You should come up with a unique team name (different to your cycling club – eg Anza Avengers). Your club is still needed if you want to collect SCF points in the national rankings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Registration
Q: Can I register on the day?
A: No – You must register on the website and registration will be closing 25th April, or if allocated spaces / times sell out, sooner. Updates will be on this website as well as Cycosports Facebook page.
Q: How Old Am I?
A: Sounds a silly question but we get asked a lot. To work out your UCI / SCF age simply take away this year from your birth year – eg 2019-1969 to 50 years (regardless of when your birthday is in the calendar year).
Q: I am under 19 years of age. Can I go in a Elite or Open Quad or Duo with my older friends?
A: No, the reason is this event is based on UCI rules and anyone under 19 years of age is classed as a Junior and will need their gears locked. It does not make sense to have gear locked bikes riding with those that are not. It is also a UCI precaution to ensure Junior riders do not injure themselves pushing too larger gears.
Q: We don’t have all or our team worked out yet. Can I just register a team block and sort our names later?
A: No – but you can individually register your team members and so reserve a team spot. Your final members must register by within 10 days of the event by the 25th April, otherwise, your team will forfeit their spot and entry fees.
Q: Do I need a SCF or UCI licence for this race?
A: Anyone who wants to participate in the SCF Elite categories must have a SCF race licence. You can purchase the annual license at (click here) or you can purchase a Day License @$15 (which includes Insurance) as part of your registration. The Sport category does not require a Day License but you do need your own insurance. As part of the registration you can purchase SCF Day Insurance at $15.
Q: Where can I find details of the SCF Day Insurance?
A: Details are here.
Q: Do I need race Insurance?
A: We strongly advise everyone should have race insurance. You can purchase annual insurance when you purchase a SCF licence that covers you for the year and includes insurance for racing and training. More details are available on the SCF website.
Q: Can I cancel my booking once entered?
A: No, once paid, your entry is confirmed and cannot be cancelled. We will accept transfers (until 23 March) if you are unable to compete due to injury.
Q: Can I change my race category later?
A: No, please think carefully before choosing your category.
&nbsp
Q: Can I enter more than one event?
A: Potentially you can enter a Quad and a Duo. We do not recommend entering two quads or two duos as you will miss your start time.
&nbsp
Q: Can a NTS Rider enter the Sports Category to be with their friends?
A: No – NTS riders must ride the Elite Categories.
&nbsp
Q: Is there a Junior Gear Restriction?
A: Gearing restrictions apply to all Junior category-specific races (in their highest useable gear). Restricted gearing rules exist internationally and are enforced to guard against damage to young bones and muscles that could result through the use of big gears at an early age. Gear restrictions are based on a “roll out distance” of 7.93m. The roll out distance is the distance the bike travels in a straight line through one full revolution of the pedal cranks in the biggest gear on the bike.

On The Day Logistics
&nbsp
Q. Where can i park my Car?
A. As part of the registration process you can order a $10 car park for the event. The price is for the entire time you are parked there. Please note that illegally parked cars will be towed away – LTA have given very clear instructions that no cars should be parked illegally.
&nbsp
Q. Where do I pick up my Race Pack?
A. As people are staggered throughout the morning, the license verification and race pack collection will be onsite at the event. Please allow extra time for collection and placement of chip, bib and seatpost sticker.
&nbsp
Q: Does my bike, equipment and clothing need to be UCI legal for the event?
A. If you are riding an Elite or Junior category your bike does need to follow UCI rules and setup. If you are riding the Sports category, your clothing must follow UCI rules.
Q: Where do I find details of the UCI rules for TT Bikes, Equipment and Clothing?
A. Please see the following links – TBC by SCF Commissaires
Q: Can I check my bike is legally setup before the event itself?
A. Yes – SCF will be providing a time/location to check bicycles before the event day. Details to follow.
Q. On the day what happens if my bike is checked and not UCI compliant for the Elite categories?
A. You will be stressed and probably not deliver your best performance. You will need to quickly see the mechanic and change your setup. Please allow sufficient time to do so. We strongly suggest if in an Elite or Junior category, you get your bike checked before the event.
Q. How long before my start time should I arrive?
A. We recommend 45 minutes to allow yourself enough time to check your bike and prepare yourself. It also gives you an opportunity to see the times being recorded by the other riders.
&nbsp
Q: How can I warm up before my race?
A: Please use the surrounding roads and take caution as these will be open roads. Please ensure you are back within 15-20 minutes of your scheduled start.
Q. If actual starts are behind schedule can I assume my start will be pushed back?
A. No – Please be ready by your scheduled start time regardless. Often we can make up time with “no shows” or reducing planned gaps between waves.
Q. Will my actual start ever be before my scheduled start?
A. No – We will always keep to the published schedule.
Q. When will we know the race results?
A. Results will be published on a TV screen at the registration tent. Please note that these are PROVISIONAL until approved by the commissaires.
Q. Can I draft in this event?
A. No this is a UCI Team Time Trial so the only drafting is between your team of 2 or 4. Any drafting of other teams will mean disqualification.
Q. Can I protest the results?
A. Yes you can, within 15 minutes of the results coming in. Please see the registration tent for a protest form.
&nbsp
Q: Do you have medics on hand in case of emergency?
A: Yes we have a full medical team stationed at the event and an ambulance on standby.
&nbsp
Q: I’d like to help out (volunteer) on the day – is that possible?
A: Absolutely – we always need help running these events. Please drop us a message here.

Measure Your Bike Early
If you are riding a SCF Elite Category or are a Junior A or B rider, it’s important that your bike is UCI legal and set up for the Time Trial based on UCI specifications. We do advise all riders to set up their bike according to the UCI well in advance of the competition because:
Doing it on the day will be stressful for you
Mechanics may not be available
You may miss your start (Your time will still be recorded based on the scheduled start)
You may be disqualified
If you do start, your bike will be a new setup and you may not feel comfortable.
